Dr. Ross Stutman is board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and he completed additional training in aesthetic surgery during a fellowship approved by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons. He has been in practice in the Scottsdale/Phoenix area since 2012, and has additional experience working for both SonoBello and Airsculpt/Elite Body Sculpture. Dr. Stutman has performed more than 2,500 fat removal procedures. Dr. Stutman’s wealth of experience enabled him to develop the most comfortable and effective fat removal procedure for his patients.

Dr. Stutman will never rush through your consultation. We want you to be as informed as possible and ensure that all of your questions are answered. Most patients will require 45 minutes to 1 hour to complete the initial consultation.

Yes, unlike many other large fat removal companies/practices, you will meet with a patient care consultant and Dr. Stutman during your consultation. Dr. Stutman, a board-certified plastic surgeon, will examine each patient, will give you a thorough explanation of the procedure, and will review your individual expectations.

Yes, we have a privacy-protected form of video communication. Dr. Stutman is available for virtual consultations during normal business hours, and we can make special arrangements for weekends and after-hour virtual consultations for your convenience.

No, we can safely treat high BMI patients.

Every patient has individual needs, preferences, and body areas of concern. Your S.L.A.E. Silhouette price will vary depending on the area(s) treated. You will be given a price quote for the area(s) you elect to treat during your consultation.

We do not accept insurance as S.L.A.E. Silhouette is considered an elective cosmetic procedure.

Yes, our equipment is specially designed to allow fat grafting with minimal trauma to the fat, to increase the survival of the transferred fat.

Yes, if you have contour deficits or residual fat pockets from your previous liposuction, S.L.A.E. Silhouette can be performed to improve your previous results.

Almost any area of your body that has excess subcutaneous (under skin/above muscle) fat can be removed. The most common areas include the stomach, waist, hips, back, chin/neck, inner thighs, outer thighs, and arms.

Possibly.Gynecomastia can be caused by increased fat in the chest area but may also be due to enlarged breast glandular tissue. Dr. Stutman will perform a full exam and go over your medical history to evaluate what the best treatment options are for your concerns.

No. S.L.A.E. Silhouette is a body contouring procedure. This means that you will have less fatty tissue in the areas treated. This will result in improved contours (for example smaller waistline) and an improved “silhouette.” Many patients use this as a “springboard” to help motivate them on their weight loss journey.

No. We make small 2mm incisions to access the fat. This amounts to about half the size of a typical pencil eraser. Over time these scars will fade and often will become almost imperceptible.

Yes. To decrease the risk of bleeding and swelling, we recommend that you do not take Aspirin or other blood thinning products for at least 10-days prior to the procedure. Dr. Stutman will provide a complete list of medications and herbal supplements to avoid prior to the procedure.

No. With excessive weight gain you are more likely to gain fullness in the areas treated. However, if you maintain your pre-procedure weight, your results will remain.

In almost all cases, only one procedure is necessary. However, we cannot remove more than 5 liters of fat in one session, which may require patients to break up the treated areas into more than one session.

No. If you keep your weight stable, you will not see increased subcutaneous fat. However, with excessive weight gain after the procedure, fat cells left behind can grow.

Yes. Dr. Stutman is specially trained in facial rejuvenation, including fat grafting. Many patients would like an alternative to dermal fillers and prefer to use their own fat as a permanent form of facial rejuvenation.

It depends mostly on the number of areas treated and your BMI. Fat transfer procedures will also increase the time of your procedure. However, we do not charge by the length of time your procedure will take, so rest assured that Dr. Stutman will spend as much time as needed to complete your procedure. The average procedure will take approximately 2-3 hours.

No. Dr. Stutman has refined a protocol to keep you comfortable during and after your procedure. You will be given relaxation and pain medicines before the procedure to alleviate any anxiety. During the procedure, we use local anesthesia to numb the areas treated. We also use the Pro-Nox (“laughing gas”) system during your procedure for optimal comfort.

Post-operatively most patients Do Not require narcotic pain medication.

Yes. Dr. Stutman is a board-certified plastic surgeon with privileges at many surgical centers and hospitals in the greater Phoenix/Scottsdale area. However, we have found that with our relaxation and comfort protocol, general anesthesia is not necessary for most patients. Dr. Stutman will be happy to discuss your concerns at your consultation.

S.L.A.E Silhouette is offered exclusively in our Scottsdale medical office at 3501 N. Scottsdale Road, Suite 330. This allows for the utmost patient privacy.

Dr. Stutman recommends no strenuous activity for 2 weeks following the procedure. This is to allow swelling to decrease and improve discomfort. Most patients can return to work and normal daily activities 1-2 days after the procedure.

Yes. We will provide an appropriately sized compression garment for you to wear after your procedure. We recommend wearing the compression garment for at least 2 weeks to help decrease swelling and aid in smooth, natural results.

Yes. Someone over the age of 18 must drive you home after your procedure. If you do not have anyone to take you home, we can arrange for a medical ride service to take you home. Sorry, but for your safety, we will not release you home to a rideshare service. Your driver does not need to stay in the office during the procedure, but if they would like to, our office has WiFi and refreshments.

Yes. Bruising and swelling are normal parts of the healing process. Bruising will typically resolve by 2 weeks. Swelling will mostly resolve by 6 weeks, though a minor amount of swelling can remain for 2-3 months. Dr. Stutman will discuss use of medications/herbal supplements to decrease your bruising and swelling.

Yes. Since we do not use general anesthesia, you are able to eat a well-balanced meal before your procedure.

Yes. It is important to keep pressure off the areas to which the fat was transferred. We will supply a special off-loading pillow for you to sit on after “Brazilian Butt Lift” procedures. We also recommend eating a well-balanced diet with healthy fats (for example: avocado, dairy, nuts, Greek yogurt, eggs, fish, and lean meats). This diet will help maintain the transferred fat in the early healing period.

No. Most patients will heal well without lymphatic massage. However, after 2 weeks, some patients do see faster resolution of swelling with lymphatic massage. For your convenience we offer lymphatic massage in our office. Please ask your patient care coordinator for details.

For the first few days after the procedure, you will be swollen with water retention and numbing fluid. Most patients start to see drastic changes by 2 weeks, but this varies per patient. Your results will be 90% complete by 3 months, however, it can take a full year before your skin completely retracts back and all swelling resolves.

S.L.A.E. Silhouette is very effective at removing unwanted fullness from subcutaneous fat. Dr. Stutman will evaluate your excess skin concerns and offer realistic expectations. For some patients the best option may be skin removal in addition to, or instead of S.L.A.E. Silhouette. As a board-certified plastic surgeon, we are able to fully discuss more invasive procedures such as abdominoplasty (“tummy tuck”), back bra line lift, thigh lift, face/neck lift, and brachioplasty (“arm lift”) if needed.

Most patients will be seen at approximately 1 week after the procedure, at 3 months, and again at 6 months. If you are coming from out of town we do offer virtual post-op appointments as well.

No. All follow up appointments are provided at no additional charge.

Yes. The best compliment we can ask for is a personal referral. If you refer a friend and they complete the procedure, we can offer you either discounts on new areas treated or a credit for either skin care products or neurotoxin (Botox). Ask your patient care coordinator for more details.
